DOJ files rape charges vs. NPA commander

0

Prosecutors lodged multiple rape charges against a New People’s Army (NPA) rebel who was accused of sexually abusing a former comrade when she was just a teenager.

In a statement Friday, Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary and spokesperson Emmeline Villar said that upon the findings of probable cause, two counts of rape were filed against Rey Dela Peña (a.k.a. Reynaldo Santos).

The DOJ said the incidents happened on April 2016 in Barangay Mangayang, Dupax Del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya and on June 2016 in Barangay Minuli, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija against “Ka Shane” who was then an active member of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) – NPA assigned at the Caraballo Guerilla Front in Nueva Ecija.

She was alleged to have been lured by militant group Anakbayan in May 2011 into joining the Kabataang Makabayan and was sworn in as a cadre of the Youth Communist League in November 2011.

Lady Miranda aka “Ka Shane”

In January 2015, Shane became a part of the Rifle Formation of the Caraballo Guerilla Front and by the following month, promoted to a full-fledged member of the CCP.

Dela Peña was her squad leader and the vice commander of their platoon.

A witness, Francisco Cortez Baesa Jr., a staff of the Regional Operational Command of the NPA – Central Luzon from 2007 to 2018, said their platoon and squad leaders raped their female members.

On Oct. 29, 2020, Shane, then 17, also filed a rape complaint in Calubian, Leyte against Paterno Opo (alias Dodong), commander of the NPA sub-regional committee operating in Leyte and Biliran provinces.

“I suffered in the hands of our supposed superior when I was only 15 years old in the mountains of Calubian, Leyte in July 2018. This incident continues to haunt me until today and I want to seek justice,” Shane said during a press conference at the Calubian town hall that day.

Maria Ressa at Pangilinan sanib-pwersa kontra fakenews

Disinformation threatens 2022 elections integrity: Nobel Peace Prize winner tells Senate panel

TO HAVE an “integrity of elections” in 2022, the country should defeat disinformation as soon as possible, Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa said at the Senate committee investigation on the disinformation machinery online.

“If we don’t have an integrity of facts, we will not have integrity of elections. If you look at every study of fascism globally, they first tear down the facts,” said Ressa at the third hearing of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes.

“Facebook is now the world’s largest distributor of news and yet studies have shown that lies laced with anger and hate spread faster and further than the really boring facts. So the reality is, the platforms that deliver the facts to you are biased against facts, they are biased against journalists. And they are, by design, dividing us and radicalizing us,” she added.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, who heads the Senate committee conducting the hearing, said the unprecedented scale, speed, and scope of technology used in disinformation distorts the truth that allows people to make informed decisions.

“Ganito kasama ang kasinungalingan. Apektado ang kalusugan at kaligtasan nating lahat, ang kaban ng bayan, at ang kaayusan ng ating lipunan. Masama na nga ang sitwasyon, sinasamantala pa ang pagka-desperado ng ating mga kababayan sa mga pakalat ng mga paninira,” he said after citing the disinformation on the volunteer-driven program on online consultation and the Typhoon Odette relief operations in Siargao.

“Ano ang pinapatay ng ‘infodemic’ na ito? Ang katotohanan. At pag patay na ang katotohanan, paano pa nating malalaman kung ano totoo sa hindi totoo. Sa kasinungalingan sa katotohanan? Paano tayo magpapasya nang maayos kung kasinungalingan ang basehan ng ating pagpapasya?” Pangilinan said in his opening statement.

According to Ressa, one of the faster ways to defeat disinformation is to create a law that would penalize technology and social media companies that continue to allow disinformation and misinformation to proliferate in their platforms.

“In our country, what can we do? The quick solution would be to actually hold the platforms accountable for what they spread, what they allow to spread. And when you do that, I bet you that you would automatically see a shrinking of information operations,” Ressa said.

For Ressa, the “infodemic” online has catapulted the narratives of populist regimes, including President Rodrigo Duterte’s “us vs them” narrative, which has now further divided the Filipino people.

As to the fears that the legislation might trample on freedom of speech, Ressa argued that it is the algorithm of the distribution channels that are seeking to be controlled and not the content.

“So where are you going to intervene? Don’t intervene in the content because you can actually be accused of censorship,” Ressa explained.

“But if you go to the algorithms of amplification… because everyone can say what they think. But what your neighbor said never reaches broadcast scale until today, because there have been no guardrails on the distribution of lies,” she added.

Pangilinan shared Ressa’s sentiments in his opening message, saying that the “infodemic” threatens democracy.

“‘Infodemic’ threatens the very fiber of our decency as a people. The situation has gone so very bad that even the traditionally quiet community of 18 business groups issued a statement against disinformation and hate speech,” he said.

The lawmaker vowed that he will support any move that will hold accountable the individuals behind the proliferation of fake news and the channels that amplify the same.

“We must have laws that are up-to-date, responsive to the needs of the times, foolproof as best at it can be against the ingenious minds of criminals ika’ nga… We have to craft new laws or legislation cognizant of the new complications that technology poses,” Pangilinan said.

“Sama-sama po nating iilawan ang madilim na mundo ng ‘infodemic’. As we grapple for sharper weapons to defeat the night, we shall remember that our torches are puny when alone. Light shines brightest when all the torches stand together in firm defiance of evil,” he added.

Comelec junks petition to cancel BBM’s COC for being a nuisance candidate

0

WATCH: Comelec holds preliminary conference – or a dialogue – on the disqualification cases against Bongbong Marcos: Abogado ng Akbayan pinagtawanan ni Guanzon sa mga ebidensyang inihain kontra BBM sa Comelec Hearing

The camp of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday lauded the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to remove Tiburcio Marcos and Maria Aurora Marcos from the list of candidates in the 2022 elections.

Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, spokesperson for Marcos, says such action upholds democracy and stops mockery of the elections.

“We commend the Comelec for its decision declaring Tiburcio Marcos and Maria Aurora Marcos nuisance candidates,” Rodriguez said in a statement.

“We give it to the members of this august body for seeing through the schemes and machinations of certain political camps to make a mockery of the electoral process by resorting to gutter politics.”

A Comelec division earlier issued a resolution denying a petition seeking to declare Bongbong Marcos, son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., a nuisance candidate.

Bongbong Marcos is the standard bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and his running mate is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Bongbong’s candidacy, however, is being challenged before the Comelec, with various groups and personalities calling for his disqualification and the invalidation of his certificate of candidacy in connection with his conviction in a tax case years ago.

Rodriguez has dismissed the petitions as propaganda.

“We have always held that elections are won and lost on election day,” he said in his latest statement. “Let us all adhere to that.”

Duterte orders PNP to arrest black market sellers of COVID-19 drugs

0

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday ordered law enforcers to arrest those who engage in the black market sale of COVID-19 medicines amid the ongoing pandemic.

Duterte gave the order after Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officer-in-charge Dr. Oscar Gutierrez said the agency issued a certificate of product registration on December 27, 2021 for remdesivir.

He said the FDA registration meant an end to the sale of overpriced remdesivir in the black market.

“Remember nagkaroon ng increase ng black market of remdesivir. Finally this will come to an end, we issued the CPR last December 27,” Gutierrez said at Duterte’s Talk to the People on Thursday night.

“That means it can now be supplied to public drug outlets para mawala ang black market,” he added.

“Yung black market, at this time lalo na na may naghihirap, yung black market, ‘yung nahuli I would insist for the police to arrest them and detain them for investigation,” Duterte said.

“If it is a serious offense that would be about 24 hours of detention and that time, you can investigate,” he added. —NB, GMA News

0

May isang senador, Pangilinan. Noon below eight no criminal liability ‘yan —below nine, rather. I’m sorry, below nine. Above nine, under 12 may —tingnan ng fiscal or ano if there is really malice or a violent character.

Here comes Pangilinan. You know what the guy did? Iyong problema natin ngayon. And do you know, I said, why they are so bold to do that, daring? Because they have been previously — sa experience nila, under the Pangilinan Law, hindi ka makulong.

Eh kung ‘yung 15 years old, papasok ka ng bahay, sasaksakin ka, patayin ka, tapos kunin mo ‘yung — kinuha ‘yung pera, pagdating doon sa istasyon, sabihin ng pulis report lang, recorded, “go where you want.” That increased the number of crime tenfold.

Fiscal na ako noon. Sabi ko, “napakag*** nito” and the Congress that went along with it. ‘Yung mga abugado sa ‘yung panahon… Tanungin ko sila, buhay pa man kayo, iyong members of the Congress: hindi ba ninyo binasa nang husto ‘yun? Kaya lumalaban, even if it’s a minor and it’s a grievous offense, dadalhin talaga sa istasyon ‘yan for recording kasi may complainant eh. Even if they are minors and even if there is a Pangilinan Law.

Actually, huwag kayong bumoto.

Ang sa American Law, the minors are not released back to the streets. There is a halfway house where they are detained there until a judge will decide na… Sinunod niya ang batas ng Amerikano. Wala man tayong halfway house, so anong ginawa?

Dito ‘pag naaresto, they are brought to the DSWD because — [accidentally hits the cup] [ay sorry] — because — eh galit ako eh. [laughter] Galit ako kay Pangilinan actually. Hindi galit na ano, hindi galit na… Ganoon talaga ako ‘pag… Nasanay mayor eh na ‘yung — helpless. Helpless ang public, helpless ang gobyerno. It’s actually Catch-22. ‘Pag inaresto mo, ang pulis ang — ikulong niya. Ngayon ang pulis ang…

Ang karamihan diyan, actually ganito. Alam mo bakit ang pulis hesitant? Allow me this time to give you some inner thoughts sa gobyerno. “Ilang taon ‘yun?” “Thirteen, fourteen.” “Ah wala ‘yan.” Arestuhin ‘yan… They cannot even bring the — force the child to bring to the station.

Kaya lumaki ‘yan, marami ‘yan sila.

Above nine below 12, tingnan nila ang — kung may malice ba kagaya ng rape, 12 years old o acts of lasciviousness.

Seventeen years old patayin nila — 16, 17 pasukin ka sa bahay at saksakin kayong lahat, kunin ‘yung pera ninyo? Ba-bye. Ganoon ‘yan.

Let me — it’s a New Year — let me dwell dito sa from the standpoint of the Executive department. Iyan ang…

Ngayon sinong pinapadalan ng droga? Itong human rights na ito, makinig kayo. P*… Sinong runner nila sa droga? Mga bata. Ibigay sa kanila, sabihin niya, “Ibigay mo sa tao doon nakatindig.” In the process, ‘pag nahuli, na-interdict kasi may nag-report o alam na ng… Nakuha ‘yung shabu so pagdating doon, “Ilang taon ka?” “Sixteen.” “Oh, umuwi ka na.”

Alam mo ang mga — ang sindikato niyan magdala ng photostatic copy ang mga itong mga runner nila. ‘Pag aresto ng pulis, “Oh, ‘yung birth certificate ko oh tingnan mo.” Ganoon kalala ang ginawa ni Pangilinan.

Now is as good as any other time to talk about it. It affects the — our safety, our interest, the safety of our children.

0

As the Omicron variant continues to pose a threat to the country’s healthcare system capacities, the national government on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, underscored the need to ramp up the vaccination in other regions as the National Capital Region (NCR) and its neighboring provinces registered sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

In a press briefing, Cabinet Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles urged other regions to step up their vaccination to cushion the impact of Omicron and other variants to the country’s healthcare capacity, as seen in the NCR.

“Let’s take advantage of increasing the vaccination in the regional areas. While we’re seeing a surge here in Metro Manila at yung mga kalapit na probinsya dito, we have to push for more vaccinations happening in the other regions outside of Metro Manila and Calabarzon,” said Secretary Nograles.

The Palace official emphasized that while Omicron is already spreading in the NCR and nearby provinces, hospital care utilization is not increasing as steeply as the cases are rising as a majority of NCR residents are fully vaccinated and have already received their boosters.

The IATF Co-chair reported that ICU beds is currently at 35 percent utilization in Metro Manila, and 26 percent utilization nationwide. For isolation beds, it is at 32 percent utilization in Metro Manila, and 27 percent utilization nationwide. Meanwhile, ward beds utilization in Metro Manila is at 36 percent, while nationwide it is at 19 percent. For ventilators, it is at 20 percent utilization in the NCR, and 14 percent utilization nationwide.

“We cannot say the same thing sa ibang mga regions. … We need to step up yung vaccination in other regions so that if Omicron or whatever variant goes and spreads dun sa mga regions, then we won’t see an overwhelming number of cases happening in the hospitals,” Nograles said.

Nograles also pointed out that even if fully vaccinated, people should still avoid getting infected so as not to overwhelm healthcare capacities, including overwhelming the healthcare workers.

“Ayaw rin po natin na mataas ang hawaan kase ayaw rin po natin ma-overwhelm ang ating healthcare capacities, and that most importantly involves not getting our healthcare workers overwhelmed with so much work and cases that they have to take care of,” stressed the Cabinet official.

Meanwhile, for the unvaccinated, infectious disease specialist Dr. Edsel Salvaña, emphasized that although Omicron may be associated with milder symptoms for those who are fully vaccinated, it can still lead to severe or critical disease for the unvaccinated.

In fact, Salvaña said that as much as 85 percent of people in the hospital who are sick with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, while up to 93 percent of those who die of the disease are unvaccinated.

To this, Nograles reiterated the importance of getting vaccinated as he reiterated that all vaccines are safe, effective, and given for free.

“The numbers clearly show how these can prevent serious cases of COVID; 85% po of COVID patients in our ICUs ay mga unvaccinated. Kaya malaking tulong ang bakuna para maprotektahan tayo laban sa COVID-19 at mga variant nito. Malinaw po ang ebidensya: ito ang ating pinakamabisang armas kontra COVID-19,” explained Nograles.

Per the January 04, 2022 data from the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, more than 110-M total doses have been administered nationwide. Of the target population for vaccination, 79.42 percent or 61,260,924 have already received a first dose, while 65.63 percent of the target population are fully vaccinated.

“Our experience with COVID-19 has shown us that we can contain this disease with prompt, decisive, and measured action on the part of the national government, our Local Government Units, communities, our families, and ourselves, as individuals. This allowed us to overcome the threat posed by the Delta variant, and this will allow us to overcome the challenges posed by the Omicron variant.”

Alert Level 3 NADAGDAGAN!

0

The provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will shift to a stricter Alert Level 3 from January 5 to 15 due to a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, possibly spiked by the Omicron variant, Malacañang announced Tuesday.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, said the decision was reached by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) in a meeting on Monday.

“Due to a sharp increase of Covid-19 cases in the particular localities, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved yesterday, Jan. 3, 2022, the recommendation of its sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics to escalate Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal to Alert Level 3. This shall take effect from Jan. 5, 2022 until Jan. 15, 2022,” he said.

On Dec. 31, 2021, the IATF raised Metro Manila to Alert Level 3 until January 15.

Nograles said the current hospital care utilization rate is “not as high.”

“Hindi sumipa ng ganoon kataas iyong admissions natin sa hospital (Our admissions in hospitals did not increase that much). ICU is not bad, but the cases are rising,” he said.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier said there was a high possibility of local transmission of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 after the country tallied more than 4,000 new infections for the second straight day.

As of January 3, the DOH recorded 4,084 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s caseload to 2,855,819.

The DOH also reported 497 more people getting better, bringing total recoveries to 2,779,241 while 16 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 51,586.

The positivity rate was 20.7 percent, about four times the World Health Organization’s benchmark of below 5 percent to indicate that coronavirus transmission is under control.

Under Alert Level 3, a 30 percent indoor venue capacity and 50 percent outdoor venue capacity will be allowed for some activities, provided employees are fully vaccinated.

However, face-to-face or in-person classes for basic education; contact sports, except those conducted under the bubble-type setup; funfairs/carnivals and kid amusement industries; venues with live voice or wind instrument performers and audiences; casinos, horse racing, cockfighting and operation of cockpits, lottery and betting shops, and other gaming establishments; and gatherings in residences with individuals not belonging to the same household will be prohibited. Duterte warns profiteers, hoarders in wake of ‘Odette’

0

President Rodrigo R. Duterte said business owners profiteering from consumer goods in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette may be arrested.

In his prerecorded Talk to the People on Monday night, Duterte threatened to order the arrest of business owners involved in the overpricing of basic goods and construction supplies in areas hit by the typhoon.

“Tell us if there has been a violation during this time because we will identify them and the Philippine National Police, we will ask them to arrest the hoarders and people who are taking advantage of the situation,” Duterte told Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez.

He emphasized the need to address profiteering, noting that people are already suffering.

“We have to put a stop to this and probably we can go ahead and cap the prices of the goods available especially medicine,” he added.

Lopez, for his part, confirmed that there were indeed business owners taking advantage of the people affected by the typhoon.

He said he already requested the PNP to be on the lookout against businessmen hiking the prices of goods.

“Ang order sa ating mga enforcers ay mag-aresto ng overpricing (Our order to enforcers is really to arrest those overpricing),” he said, noting that there have been many apprehensions made, particularly in Bohol and Cebu.

To date, Lopez said the DTI has so far urged these businesses to explain the increase in the prices of basic goods while others were issued letters of inquiry (LOI).

He added that those who were apprehended quickly reverted their prices.

On Dec. 21, Duterte signed Proclamation No. 1267 declaring a state of calamity in areas battered by Typhoon Odette, particularly Mimaropa (Region 4-B), Western Visayas (Region 6), Central Visayas (Region 7), Eastern Visayas (Region 8), Northern Mindanao (Region 10), and Caraga (Region 13).

Proclamation No. 1267 is meant to hasten the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts of the government and the private sector, including any international humanitarian assistance.

The proclamation also aims to effectively control the prices of basic goods and commodities in the affected areas and afford the national government, as well as local government units (LGUs), ample latitude to utilize appropriate funds for the rescue, recovery, relief, and rehabilitation of and the continued delivery of basic services to affected populations.

Typhoon Odette left widespread devastation and damages when it hit parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Dec. 16, killing nearly 389 people and displacing over 1 million families. (PNA)

Who will Duterte endorse for president after Bong Go quits 2022 race?

0

All eyes are now on President Duterte as he is set to pick his anointed one in the 2022 presidential elections.

The President is expected to choose his new preferred successor after his aide Senator Bong Go backed out of the presidential race.

Go announced his decision to withdraw his presidential candidacy during a visit to San Juan on Bonifacio Day, The senator told reporters that it was not yet his time to run for presidency, saying he has been agonizing over his unplanned 2022 bid.

Duterte earlier persuaded Go to run for president after he backed out from the vice presidential race when his daughter Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City sought the national post in the elections.

For now, Go said the President has yet to endorse a new presidential bet for 2022 elections. Duterte is expected to support a successor who will continue his programs from fighting criminality and corruption to pursuing infrastructure projects.

“Susuporta kami sa kandidatong magpapatuloy ng programa ni Pangulong Duterte,” the senator told reporters on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Among the presidential bets next year are Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and labor leader Leody de Guzman.

Duterte is not in good terms with some of these presidential contenders.

The President recently declared he would not support Marcos, saying he was a weak leader and a spoiled kid as well as carried political baggage. He was also annoyed that Marcos pressured his daughter to run for vice president even though she has been leading the presidential surveys in recent months.

Duterte’s relations with Robredo, leader of the opposition, have also been strained over their political differences. He likewise hurled insults at Pacquiao and Domagoso, both critical of his governance in the run-up to the polls. Duterte previously belittled the competence of these politikos.

Duterte already patched things up with Pacquiao following a recent meeting. But he declined to Pacquiao’s offer to join forces in the elections for the sake of Mindanao.

Duterte will end his six-year term next year but changed his mind on retirement. He initially wanted to run for vice president but opted to seek a Senate seat instead in next year’s polls.

0

Any evidence that would prove that a presidential aspirant is a drug user must be revealed so that cases can be filed, Vice President Leni Robredo said on Friday.

Robredo explained in an ambush interview in Lucena, Quezon province, that President Rodrigo Duterte — who claimed that one of the presidential aspirants is a cocaine user — may have access to documents that even other government officials cannot see.

However, she feels it should not be released in such a way that intrigue can be sown.

“Iyong sa akin lang, kung mayroong ebidensya, kailangang ilabas. Kung mayroong ebidensya, kailangang kasuhan kasi ito iyong nakasaad sa ating batas. Hindi dapat ito dinadaan sa ganitong paraan,” Robredo told reporters.

“I am sure iyong Presidente mayroong access sa maraming information na lahat tayo walang access. So siya iyong makakasagot kung ano iyong mga pruweba tungkol dito,” she added.

However, Robredo was confident that the President was not referring to her.

“Ako, number one, siguradong hindi ako iyon. Number two, ayaw kong pumatol. Ayaw kong dagdagan,” she explained. “Para patulan pa, hindi na. Sigurado lang akong hindi ako iyon.”

Cocaine user presidentiable gusto ring ipakulong ni De Lima

0

Detained Senator Leila de Lima on Friday hit President Rodrigo Duterte following his allegation that a presidential bet was using cocaine, saying the chief executive should have apprehended that person amid his administration’s drug war.

“Kung ganoon, dapat pala siya ang pinakulong mo, hindi ako,” de Lima wrote on her social media page. “Hindi ba kasama ang cocaine sa drug war mo?”

Duterte on Thursday questioned the credentials and accomplishments of a certain presidential hopeful, who he claims is into cocaine and is a “weak leader.” While he did not name the candidate, Duterte dropped hints during his speech — including that the person has an influential father and a strong following.

De Lima, for her part, said it was “pretty obvious” whom Duterte was referring to. She noted that the president seemed to have known the matter all along.

Malacañang said it would be up to Duterte if he would be naming the aspirant.

“Lahat naman ng mga illegal drugs kasama ‘yan sa drug war. Let’s leave it to the sound judgement na lang ni Pangulo kung kailan niya pangalanan,” Duterte’s acting spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in a media breifing.

De Lima, a staunch critic of Duterte, has been detained since 2017 for what she describes as fabricated drug-related charges. The lawmaker first earned the ire of Duterte when, as then chairman of the Commission of Human Rights, she investigated hundreds of suspected killings by the so-called Davao Death Squad when the President was still the mayor of Davao City.

Bongbong Marcos diretsahang tinawag na ‘Weak Leader, Spoiled Child’ ni Duterte

0

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday called presidential aspirant former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. “a weak leader” as he ruled out a coalition with his daughter Sara Duterte’s Lakas-CMD.

Duterte was addressing PDP-Laban members at a venue in Calapan, Mindoro when he was asked if his Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan and the PDP-Laban faction to which he belonged would ally with Lakas-CMD party.

“No,” Duterte said. “Because andiyan si Marcos, e.”

“Hindi ako bilib . He is a weak leader. Totoo yan, di ako naninira, kasi spoiled child, only son,” he added.

“He is a weak leader, totoo ‘yan, I do not foist lies, masisira ka. Bantay kayo, [baka] magkamali ang Pilipinas,” Duterte said.

Sara has announced that she would be backing the presidential bid of Marcos, the standard bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

The mayor of Davao City is the vice presidential candidate and newly installed chairperson of the Lakas-CMD.

Cocaine boy presidentiable ibinulgar ni Duterte

0

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday claimed that there is a presidential candidate in the May 9, 2022 national elections who is a cocaine user.

Duterte made the revelation in a speech delivered in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, as he reiterated his vow to fight illegal drugs.

Duterte did not name the presidential aspirant but hinted that the candidate for the country’s top post is a male.

He also implied that the presidential hopeful with a “very weak” character has many supporters.

“I will not make it clear now. There’s even a presidential candidate na nag-cocaine,” Duterte said during the joint meeting of the national and regional task forces to end local communist armed conflict.

Duterte, while he refused to reveal the identity of the presidential candidate taking cocaine, spilled more details, alluding that the latter is influential and adored by many because his father is prominent.

“Bahala kayo kung ano ang gusto ninyong tao, inyo yan. Ang akin lang, pagdating ng panahon, basta sinabi ko sa inyo. And he is a very weak leader ang character, except for the name,” he said.

Duterte said he made the revelation not to warn the Filipino voters but to make them aware of the presidential aspirant’s drug addiction.

He also told the electorate that it is still up to them if they still prefer that candidate to lead the country after his term ends in June 2022.

“Hindi ako nag-iintriga. Bahala kayo. Find out kung sino,” Duterte said. “Ang tatay, pero siya, anong ginawa niya? If that’s what the Filipino wants, go ahead.”

Incumbent Senators Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Emmanuel “Manny Pacquiao, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso are among the known male personalities who are seeking the country’s top post.

Earlier, Duterte expressed dismay over the decision of his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, to run for vice president under Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats despite being the top contender for president based on the previous pre-election surveys.

Duterte also said Marcos might have influenced his daughter to seek the vice presidency instead of the top government post.

IT’S OFFICIAL! Sara Duterte nakipag-alyansa kay Bongbong Marcos sa Eleksyon 2022

0

It is official: Former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will be running in tandem — as president and vice president, respectively — in the 2022 national elections.

Marcos made the announcement Tuesday night, hours after Duterte-Carpio admitted calling for support for both of their candidacies.

“Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and I have finished the process for the partnership that our supporters have been hoping for — BBM-Sara for 2022,” Marcos said in Filipino in a statement.

“And we have agreed, together with our parties, to push for a united leadership in case fortune favors use in the coming elections on May 9, 2022,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Duterte-Carpio admitted seeking the support of political parties for her and Marcos’s run for next year’s elections. Notably, the PDP-Laban, the political party of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, allegedly rejected it.

“My party made an alliance and asked for support for Bongbong Marcos and me after I heeded your call. PDP rejected this, and we understand this,” Duterte-Carpio said, speaking in Filipino, in a video statement.

“But I want to clarify: We are not destroying or staining anybody’s name. Nobody is being run over, nobody is being shortchanged, quarreled with, made to cry, or oppressed,” she added.

Asked to clarify the Davao City mayor’s statement about seeking the support of PDP-Laban, Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco of Liloan in Cebu said Duterte-Carpio was asking for support for “the tandem.”

Bong Go, emosyonal! Gustong maka-tandem si Sara Duterte

0

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday said she had sought an alliance with the administration PDP-Laban party for a slate with presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. but that the party refused.

PDP-Laban is fielding Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go for president through an allied party. President Rodrigo Duterte, the Davao City mayor’s father, is backing Go, his longtime aide.

“Ang aking partido ay nakipag-alyansa at humingi ng suporta para kay Bongbong Marcos at para sa akin matapos kong tanggapin ang inyong hamon at panawagan,” she said. “Tinanggihan ito ng PDP at naiintindihan natin ito.

Duterte-Carpio is the standard-bearer of the Lakas-CMD party while Marcos is the presidential candidate of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. PFP issued a resolution over the weekend “adopting” Duterte-Carpio as vice-presidential candidate.

“Pero gusto ko lamang na linawin — walang pangalan na sinisira o dinudungisan, walang sinasagasaan, walang inaagrabyado, inaaway, pinapaiyak o inaapi,” she said.

Go has since withdrawn his candidacy for vice president under the PDP-Laban and filed to run instead as Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan’s presidential candidate. PDP-Laban shortly after said that it had formed an alliance with PDDS, which is also backing the president’s bid for a Senate seat.

“Sa muli, nananawagan ako ng pagkakaisa. Ang layunin natin ay hindi lamang ituloy ang mga magagandang nasimulan ni Pangulong Duterte kundi ang mas pagbutihin at mas palawigin pa ang mga ito,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Mag-ama Showdown? Duterte vs Duterte!

0

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and her father, President Rodrigo Duterte are heading towards a possible face-off in next year’s national elections.

This after close officials to the President announced that the elder Duterte is set to file his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Manila on Monday, November 15, 2021 just hours after his daughter filed her COC for vice president.

The Davao City mayor filed her COC through lawyer Reynold Munsayas, replacing Lyle Uy of Lakas-CMD, who withdrew his candidacy earlier.

On Thursday, November 11, Sara Duterte-Carpio resigned from Hugpong ng Pagbabago, which she personally founded, before she took oath before Lakas-CMD.

Hours after Carpio filed her COC, her father and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go arrived at the Comelec office in Manila to formally withdraw the senator’s COC as vice president which he had filed last month.

After withdrawing his COC, Go then filed his COC to run as president under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan.

As they were set to go home, Duterte suddenly blurted out before national media that he will serve as Go’s running mate.

Communication Secretary Martin Andanar told reporters that the President will return on Monday, November 15, to file his COC.

“On Monday, babalik si Presidente dito sa Comelec para mag-file for vice president. Abangan natin ang sunod na kabanata,” Andanar said Saturday.

Just before the formal filing of candidacies in October, the elder Duterte had made pronouncements on his plans to run for vice president should his daughter refuse to do so.

Following his announcement, some sectors criticized the President, adding that he should make way for his successor rather than seek the country’s second highest post just to maintain a grip on power.

Go, Duterte’s trusted right-hand man, had earlier hinted that he would withdraw from running as vice president.

Meanwhile, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan presidential bet and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa withdrew his candidacy to run for President on Thursday, November 11.

Inauguration of the PPA Seaport Expansion Project (Port of Puerto Princesa)

0

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the inauguration of the Philippine Ports Authority’s (PPA) Seaport Expansion Project at the Puerto Princesa Port in Palawan on November 4, 2021.

The Puerto Princesa Port serves as Palawan’s primary maritime gateway for commerce, trade and tourism. Its expansion project, made possible through the efforts of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the PPA, was completed to boost the port’s productivity, particularly in its long-haul connection to Metro Manila and planned connectivity to Mindoro via the Port of Bulalacao.

In the past five (5) years, the Puerto Princesa Port underwent several expansions and improvements to address the needs of its users. This day, President Duterte, together with DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago, inaugurates the port’s new additional back-up area. Its construction was completed on July 20, 2021.

The expansion of the Puerto Princesa Port forms part of the 472 commercial and social-tourism projects accomplished by the DOTr and the PPA across the country since 2016.

During the event, the Chief Executive also reads the proclamation for the commissioning of the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) recently acquired Cessna Caravan Plane as PCG 2081 Aircraft and unveils the station marker of the PCG Kalayaan Station.

According to the DOTr, the newly constructed station located in Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan is equipped with facilities that shall help sustain the living conditions of the personnel deployed in the Island who are securing the country’s maritime borders.

Duterte in early October said he signed a memorandum prohibiting Cabinet members from attending the Senate probe on the Pharmally deals because they supposedly do not have the time to participate.

The President also accused the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee of blatant disrespect of resource persons.

Shortly after Duterte’s directive came out, the Philippine Bar Association said the move “upsets our system of checks and balances and transgresses the doctrine of separation of powers among the 3 branches of government.”

Senators on Oct. 6 reeled with the absence of government officials in the executive branch, and focused instead on the Pharmally executives.

The Senate panel is investigating Pharmally after records showed that the budget department’s procurement service awarded billions of pesos worth of government contracts to the company that only had less than a million pesos in paid-up capital.

The government denies there was overpricing and said the deals were above board.

The panel has so far recommended the filing of various charges against Pharmally’s officers, Chinese businessman and former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang, and former budget Undersecretary Christopher Lao, among others, due to the allegedly anomalous transactions.

“Specifically, Marcos falsified his Certificate of Candidacy when he claimed that he was eligible to be a candidate for President of the Philippines in the 2022 national elections when in fact he is disqualified from doing so,” saad pa sa inilabas na pahayag.

Malacañang on Friday scoffed at Senator Risa Hontiveros for basing her claim about President Rodrigo Duterte’s ties with a coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) medical supplier on mere photographs.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said photos could not be used as proof of Duterte’s supposed links to Wang Min, chairperson of Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), which is one of the Philippine government’s Covid-19 medical suppliers.

“Let’s just say under the laws or rules of evidence, ‘yung picture pong iyan ay ebidensiya lamang (that picture is just an evidence) of the existence of the picture. It cannot prove relationship,” Roque said in a virtual presser.

On Thursday, Hontiveros released photos from a Chinese website that showed that Duterte met with Wang at Malacañan Palace in Manila in 2017.

Roque slammed Hontiveros for being “imaginative,” and said it was only normal for a Philippine official, most especially for Duterte, to have photos with foreign investors like Wang.

He added that the photos were taken in 2017, or four years before the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Lahat po ng public officers, lahat ng public figures, hindi po nila nako-control talaga kung sinong makikipag-picture sa kanila. At dahil usung-uso po ngayon ang picture-picture lalung-lalo na madaming cellphone, wala naman pong dapat i-conclude kung meron lang larawan,” Roque said.

XCMG, along with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. and other Covid-19 medical suppliers of the country, allegedly failed to pay taxes, Senate Minority Franklin Drilon revealed during the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s investigation on Thursday.

Senator Richard Gordon, chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, told the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) “to stand up, to come out and speak up, and correct the menace of corruption in our country.”

Sought for reaction, Roque said the government would not tolerate firms with tax liabilities.

“Aba’y kung talagang hindi sila nagbayad ng buwis, kinakailangang habulin,” Roque said. “Huwag po kayong mag-alala, hindi po natutulog sa pansitan ang BIR. Kung talagang wala pong taxes, hahabulin po natin iyan. That is guaranteed.” (PNA)

REVEALED! Usapan ni Mayor Sara at Bato dela Rosa, MAY PAG-ASA!

0

Pres. Duterte may good contribution na iaambag kung magiging senador

0

And he will be a good contribution to the Senate. Dahil nga doon sa mga experiensya niya, yung mga nagawa na niya at syempre abogado rin yan noh? Yung kanyang wisdom to run the country,” pahayag ni Defensor.

“We’ve seen rin naman how he is a president. I value him as our chief executive because in my experience he has always acted with urgency on matters on the ground which is actually rare for a president. Kasi pag-iniisip mo usually ang layo-layo ng presidente doon sa concerns mo on the ground eh. But several disasters we’ve had here in Ormoc and in the 4th District of Leyte, the President has acted with utmost urgency and I appreciate that,” pahayag naman ni Torres-Gomez.

“Sa akin, it would be an honor and a pride of Mindanao kasi Mindanaoan kami eh and we need more Mindanaoan leaders to help the island of Mindanao further develop na inumpisahan ni Pangulong Duterte. Kaya nanghihinayang kami na matatapos na yung term niya eh. So, we need another Mindanaoan sana as president so that it will be what President Duterte has started. So, ako definitely yung aming probinsya, yung aming distrito ay 1001% nakasuporta sa likod ni President Duterte,” ayon kay Barbers.
