Vice President Sara Duterte has declared her intention to run in the 2028 presidential elections, drawing a brief “Good luck” from Malacañang.
Palace officials said President Bongbong Marcos Jr. smiled when he made the remark but did not clarify whether it was sincere or sarcastic.
Usec Claire Castro responded to Duterte’s apology for helping Marcos win in 2022, stressing that “ang taong bayan ang naghalal” and that she should not claim sole credit for the Uniteam victory.

In addressing Duterte’s criticism over flooding, officials cited 13,917 flood control projects under former President Rodrigo Duterte and recalled past disasters including Ompong, Tisoy, Ambo, Rolly, and Ulysses, as well as major flooding in Davao City in 2021 without a typhoon.
The Palace also raised issues involving confidential funds of the OVP and DepEd, alleged fake student vouchers worth ₱200 million, spoiled food deliveries, and missing school materials, saying any impeachment complaints would stem from her own actions.
Also, Malacañang said no alliance talks for 2028 are underway and emphasized that the President remains focused on governance while leaving voters to assess the candidates.
