Kinilala ni PNP Public Information Office acting chief Police Colonel Randulf Tuano ang nasawing opisyal bilang si PNP Supply Management Division chief Police Colonel Pergentino Malabed, Jr.

Nagtungo si Malabed sa official travel para magsagawa ng pre-delivery inspection ng mga all-purpose vests na bibilhin ng PNP. Umalis siya noong Enero 22 patungong India at nagpunta sa Amerika noong Enero 27 para sa pagsusuri.

Ayon sa PNP, “PCOL Malabed was on official travel at the time of the incident, fulfilling his duty as a dedicated police officer—committed to the service of protecting and securing both the PNP and the nation.

His untimely passing is a profound loss to the PNP, where he served with honor, integrity, and dedication throughout his career.”

Bumangga ang eroplano mula sa Kansas sa helicopter ng US military habang papalapag sa Reagan Washington National Airport. Pumatay ang insidente ng 60 pasahero at apat na crew ng eroplano, at tatlong saksi sa helicopter.

Inaalam pa ng mga awtoridad ang sanhi ng banggaan at nakuha na nila ang “black boxes” para sa imbestigasyon.
