Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, representing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, leads the flag raising and wreath laying ceremony at the Jose Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, City of Manila in observance of the 124th anniversary of the martyrdom of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, on December 30, 2020.
Joining DND Secretary Lorenzana are Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Rene Escalante and KGCR Supreme Commander Sir Elihu Ybanez. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivers a virtual message after the flag raising and wreath laying ceremonies.
Today’s program at the Rizal Park adheres to the minimal number of attendees as prescribed in the health standards and guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
This year’s commemoration bears the theme, “Jose Rizal: Inspirasyon sa Pagbangon at Paghilom ng Bayan”.
