Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte – Isang kumander ng CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) ang namatay at isa pa ang nadakip sa sagupaan sa pagitan ng mga tropa ng 30th Infantry (Fight On) Battalion, Philippine Army laban sa Sandatahang Yunit Pangpropaganda (SYP) Platoon 16C1.

Ang grupong ito ay ang Guerilla Front (GF) 16 ng North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) sa ilalim ni Roel Tremidal Neñiel alyas Jacob sa liblib ng Brgy Lahi sa Gigaquit noong Martes ng umaga, Marso 30, 2021.

Ang tropa ng gobyerno ay naatasan na magpatrolya sa lugar dahil sa reliable information na may isang pangkat ng NPA ang nagbabanta sa IP Communities na nagiging hadlang diumano sa pagpigil ng kanilang mga suplay ng pagkain na ginamit sana upang ipagdiwang ang ika-52 Kaarawan ng Pagtatag ng NPA noong Marso 29, 2021.

Habang papalapit sa Ang nasabing lokasyon, ang armadong grupo ng Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) ay nagpaputok sa mga tropa na agad na gumanti upang ipagtanggol ang kanilang sarili at isang oras ng baril ang naganap.

Nagresulta ito sa pagkamatay ng isang kumander ng NPA, pagkuhanan ng isa pa at pagbawi ng isang (1) M16 rifle, isang (1) M203 grenade launcher, fragmentation grenades, mga gamit sa pagkain at mga personal na gamit.

Dinala ang kumander ng NPA sa Gades Funeral Homes sa Brgy Campo, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte. Nakilala siya bilang tiyak na “Aka WAR” Vice Commanding Officer ng SYP Platoon 16C1, GF16, NEMRC na ang tunay na pangalan ay itinago hanggang sa maabisuhan ang kanyang mga kamag-anak.

Ang nadakip na rebelde na medyo nasugatan ay binigyan naman ng pangunang lunas ng mga tropa sa lugar ng engkwentro at inilikas sa Municipal Health Unit sa Gigaquit para sa karagdagang gamutan.

Pagkatapos ay ibinigay siya sa Gigaquit Police para sa pagsampa ng naaangkop na mga kasong kriminal. Nakilala siya bilang “Aka Bebot”.

Matatandaang noong Marso 18, 2021, isa pang bakbakan ang naganap sa pagitan ng mga tropa ng 30IB at armadong grupo ng CNT sa Sitio Baliw, Brgy Payapag, Bacuag kung saan napatay din ang isang (1) lalaking kasapi, na iniwanan na lang ng mga kasamahan sa encounter site.

Si Lt Col Ryan Charles G Callanta, ang Commanding Officer ng 30IB ay nagsabi, “I personally express my gratitude and appreciation to the local citizens of Surigao del Norte on their full cooperation in providing vital information regarding the CNTs plans and whereabouts, without their support, the CNTs may have been roaming freely and continue to wreck havoc and violence particularly against the Indigenous People’s communities. The cooperation of the people provides us the motivation particularly for our soldiers who are risking their lives to serve and protect the people against these lawless CNTs.”

“On the other hand, I am deeply saddened once again on this tragedy, where another rebel loses his life paying the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for a senseless cause in an attempt to preserve a futile ideology of the CNTs. In behalf of my troops, I extend my condolences to the bereaved family of the dead CNT member”.

“The remaining Rebels are offered a lot of opportunities under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and will be granted with full amnesty by the Presidential Proclamation number 1093. At our ends, we will also provide all the necessary assistance to them just like what we did to the Former Rebels who are now enjoying their new lives or otherwise, same fate will happen to them if they choose to continue their futile struggle. We will conduct relentless military pursuit to run after them, and use all our available assets to eliminate those who attempt to disrupt the peace and development programs in Surigao del Norte,” dagdag ng LTC Callanta.
