Nag-adjourn ang Senado nang hindi tinatalakay ang impeachment kay VP Sara Duterte, ipinadala ng House ang Articles of Impeachment.

Tinanggap ni Sec. Renato Bantug ang mga dokumentong ipinadala ng House of Representatives, ngunit hindi ito naireport sa plenaryo bago mag-adjourn.

Iginiit ni Sen. Koko Pimentel na dapat iniulat ni Bantug ang pagtanggap ng impeachment articles sa plenaryo.

Sinabi ni Atty. Bantug na kailangan pa niyang kumpletuhin ang complete staff work para matiyak na tugma ang ipinadala ng Kamara sa natanggap ng Senado.

“As of this hour, I have yet to make my official report to the Senate President because as the secretary of the Senate, it is my duty to provide complete staff work to the Senate President and to all the members of the Senate,” pahayag niya.

Idinagdag pa niya, “The process earlier, it was ministerial on my part to receive the verified complaint, the annexes but after that–and I made it clear to the secretary general–that I have to perform staff work insofar as making sure that whatever the House transmitted is what the Senate also received.”

Inendorso ng House of Representatives ang impeachment complaint laban kay Duterte sa pamamagitan ng 215 miyembro.

Kasama sa mga paratang ang culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, at iba pang high crimes.

Maaaring talakayin ng Senado ang impeachment pagkatapos ng May 2025 elections, sa pagbabalik ng sesyon nito sa Hunyo

Binanggit ni Pimentel na maaari itong aksyunan kahit sa panahon ng break kung walang tutol na senador.

“What I’m saying is that it’s a very extraordinary situation. If no one will raise an issue or object or cite any violation of the rules, then it is valid,” aniya.

Patuloy na sinusuri ang mga dokumento habang naghihintay ng karagdagang hakbang mula sa Senado.
